My Horse Counts!

 Lyndsay and Star

Lyndsay, Genesee County, and Arabian horse Star, who compete in open shows, 4-H events, breed shows and through the Michigan Interscholastic Horsemanship Association (MIHA). My horse Star counts because she has the ability to charm everyone she meets. Star trys her hardest both in and out of the show ring and accomplishes goals beyond my wildest dreams. Starting off her life as a race horse, she demonstrates how hard work and determination can achieve anything! Star has won multiple awards at breed shows, MIHA meets, and at 4-H shows, bringing home four revolving trophies from 4-H in just one year! I love my horse Star.

Dee, Washtenaw County, and Brat, American Paint Horse, mounted police and recreation
Brat and I are deputies of the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office Mounted Unit. We participate in community events and parades as public relations for the sheriff's department.

Trinity, Genesee County, and Mac, Pinto, a show horse/friend

Mac is a good horse. I love him. I like to ride him; he teaches me a lot of things. He is a good horse to show. For costume class I was a princess and he was my knight in shining armor. We got second place. We get a lot of ribbons together. Even when I don't win I still feel like I won because I have Mac. Horses are fun.

Miranda, Genessee County, and Dixie Chic, Arabian/Saddlebred, a show horse/friend

My horse is fun to work with, and always wants to come with me to practice from the pasture. She has improved a lot in the past year, at the shows and on the trail. She won two championships at 4-H Achievement Days. We were high point earners at the Lakeville Equestrian meet, our first year on the team!

Addy, Huron County, and Sam, trail riding
I don’t have my own horse, but I rode Sam for my sixth birthday. Horses are fun to ride and fun to look at and fun to pet. They’re good animals. I like all animals.

Carol, Ingham County, and Nikki, American Quarter Horse, recreational use
We’re pictured in a 4-H costume class at the Ingham County Fair a few years ago. My dad and I designed and built the rocking horse costume from Styrofoam and duct tape. I could actually rock it with the stirrups, but it was designed to fall apart in case of complications. Of 50 entries, we placed first.
